So… what’s a skill session?

So… what’s a skill session?

At some point on your journey with us, you’ve undoubtedly come across a movement that can be a bit frustrating or daunting.

Overhead squats
Snatches
Pull ups
Power cleans
Muscle ups
Handstand push ups
Box Jumps

Plenty of movements that made be a head-scratcher for you!

Now, let’s make something perfectly clear… if you continue to show up to class, work hard, and partake in the programming, you WILL get better at all of these skills or any skills that might be frustrating you. It’s just the way our programming works. We hit all of these movements each month, and with a relative amount of consistency.

But… wouldn’t it be nice to hit those trouble movements under the watchful eye of an expert coach with a much greater level of consistency?

Heck yeah it would be.

Let’s walk through what an actual skill session is.

A skill session is a 1-on-1 time with just you and a coach. Nobody else will be there to take the coaches attention. It’s some time dedicated strictly to YOU! During this time, you and said coach can work on any of the movements that are giving you trouble. This sessions will be done at your convenience, and can even be done while other group training is going on (off to the side and equipment available, of course!).

You can go through progressions to get you to a handstand.
You can go through progressions to get to a ring muscle up.
You can work barbell drills so the squat snatch doesn’t make you nervous.

You can do whatever you want!

But this isn’t just 30 minutes or 60 minutes of practicing and doing some fitness. This is time for your coach to assess, and develop the next steps to get you to continue to improve. So by the time your time is up, your coach will know exactly what “homework” to assign, give you the scaling options to follow in group classes, empower you with knowledge specific to you, and get the next skill session on the books!

Just to be clear, we aren’t pushing skill sessions on you or on anyone. We just want you to know that if you do want to get a bit more individualized attention and some individualized programming, we’re here to help you out.
